About Steve Pirus I am a career horticulture professional
with over thirty years of experience. My father wanted me to be a dentist,
but we had an orange orchard. I grew up weeding, irrigating and playing
in it. I picked and ate ripe oranges right off the trees. I grew to
love the outdoors. After graduating from high school, and during college,
I worked in two different wholesale nurseries. I have been a retail
nursery manager. I love what I do and take great pride in my work. I work by myself and do not have any employees which keeps my quality high and my customers happy. I am fully licensed and insured and can provide references upon request. All my references are people that did not know me prior to working on their plants, having met me through my work. My college background is in art and landscape is my art form. I will treat your yard as if it was my yard. If you love your
garden you'll love my work.

I
also worked as a landscape technician for Knott's Berry Farm amusement
park in Buena Park, California, and left the Parks department at the
City of Lakewood, California to move to Washington State in 1999. I
am a Certified Arborist and proud to be a member of the International
Society of Arboriculture. I am also a Clark County WSU Master Gardener.
I have taught as part of my previous jobs, and currently teach horticulture,
including proper pruning. I teach the Master Gardeners during annual
training. I have taught city and state employees, amusement park employees,
other landscape professionals striving for a higher level of skill,
high school vocational students and a variety of garden clubs. What
this means to you is simply that I love horticulture and believe in
the value of increasing the level of other peoples competence. I keep
up to date by receiving bulletins and news releases from local, state
and federal agriculture agencies and various industry groups. By no
means do I "know it all", but I strive to be professional.
